Tip of the Week! October 19, 2009

October 19th, 2009

For those of you that know me or have purchased from me probably know my favorite embellishment besides paper itself  is ribbon !!! I LOVE RIBBON!  It is so fun and adds so much to a picture page or spine of a book! Everytime I go to purchase supplies you can bet I do not leave without purchasing some type of ribbon! Do I need it?? NOPE but there is always something I don’t have or think I will use! Needless to say I have lots of ribbon! I have tried many different storage methods and have always come back to the same thing!! My first method was to hang pegs in my scrapbook room and just hang it off them so I can always see what colors! That worked great but There was not enough wall space unless I got a ladder and hung it from the very top! So I moved on! I tried to use the clear mason jars thought it was clever, shabby and cute. Not enough mason jars in the world to store my ribbon so on I went tried a couple more hung chicken wire across my wall and draped the colors over curtain rods but it was such a pain to change the ribbon roll in the center when it was full! So I finally settled on a clothes basket! yes a clothes basket! I bought a regular 6.99 clothes basket that had 100′s of holes in it! I unspooled all my ribbon and pulled each ribbon through a different hole! Once I was able to get all the ribbon I had threaded through all the holes it has been easy to just add a new one everytime I get it! when you need to use some ribbon you can just look and pull what you need off and cut it! When it runs out you know it! Well that’s my tip for the week simple and silly but it works for me!!! Good luck! Let us know your tip’s we would love to hear them!!!!

Tip of the Week

October 11th, 2009
Okay- Here is the tip… use a clipboard while doing your grocery shopping. Really you will love us for this “tip”. I am trying to use coupons, shop the sales and everything else I can think of in order to save money while feeding two teenage boys and a husband that likes his steak and potatoes. Each week I make a list of the things we need, gather up my coupons and then without fail leave them all nicely piled on the kitchen sink. If they happen to make it to the store, I usually forget to give them to the cashier and walk out of the store without saving a cent. Oh, but I tried…… That is until last week- now I am “so organized” – at least a sweet lady at Wal-Mart thought I was. She noticed my list, coupon envelope and handy pen all attached to my clipboard. I saved $43.00- Yes… I will say it again-$43.00! I shopped off my list – when I got the item in my cart, I marked it off, took the coupon out of the envelope and put it with the other coupons attached by the clamp on my clipboard! It was actually nice to get to the checkout and simply hand the clerk my coupons. No digging through my purse making sure I got all of them-nope “I’m organized” with my handy clipboard. Oh, one more tip… Wal-Mart will match any advertised price- so if your family loves Kraft Mac-a-Roni and Cheese and Tom Thumb has them for a dollar a box- you don’t have to go to Tom Thumb simply take the ad to Wal-Mart and show the ad to the cashier. They will price match right there. It’s really easy.

Come by our store and take a look at our clipboards. If you want one made especially for you email us I’m sure we can work with you to come up with something perfect. Clipboards also make wonderful gifts for teachers, friends or family. Here is one that Andrea won by leaving a comment on one of our blogs awhile back… Until next week…Happy Scrapping
